Just before 2.00am on Sunday, July 20, the Mernda CFA responded to a structure fire on Breadalbane Avenue, Mernda.
CFA firefighters attended the scene at a cafe and convenience store on Breadalbane Avenue with support from Doreen CFA, Pumper 81 (FRV) and Pumper Tanker 11 (FRV).
Police believe the incident is linked to the underworld tobacco wars and have deemed the fire suspicious. The arson squad will investigate.
The incident was deemed under control soon after firefighters arrived.
