Melbourne Highway Patrol officers are appealing for witnesses after a 54-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a car in Richmond last night.

Melbourne Highway Patrol officers are appealing for witnesses after a 54-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a car in Richmond last night.

The pedestrian was crossing Hoddle Street between Victoria Street and Elizabeth Street, when he was hit by a black Nissan X Trail just after 7.30pm.

A 54-year-old Richmond man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a 48-year-old woman stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone that may have dash cam footage.
