MELBOURNE, VIC. — A few hours ago, ARN confirmed that Karl Stefanovic will join Eddie Maguire tomorrow on Gold FM. “Television and radio heavyweight Eddie McGuire says Karl Stefanovic will join him in the host seat of their new Gold FM radio show, with the Today presenter to call in from the UK.”

By 3pm, ARN confirmed that Stefanovic had been ‘cancelled’ from the show, at least for this week.

ARN Media recently signed Stefanovic and McGuire for national program The Long Weekend on Gold FM, but decided to ask him not to record the show from the UK. Sources told Guardian Australia he was unlikely to return because the threat of an advertiser boycott over anger with Stefanovic was too high,” Amanda Meade reported for The Guardian.

Activist group Mad Fucking Witches (MFW) – who successfully ran an advertising boycott campaign against ARN’s “Kyle & Jackie O Show” on KIIS FM – stated on Facebook that: “Our spokeswoman has been asked a number of times by journos today if we intended to keep our new #KancelKarl campaign going since he was still part of ARN’s Friday afternoon broadcasting, and the honest answer she gave to all was “we don’t know.”

“We [MFW] already knew ARN were concerned about MFW taking action on Karl and Eddie’s show since we posted on the possibility a few weeks ago, so they were well aware a potential new boycott was already on our radar,” a MFW spokesperson posted to Facebook.
