Police have arrested an Ararat man and Norlane woman following the theft of two motor vehicles in Barwarre Road, Armstrong Creek about 9.20am this morning.
Officers responded to reports of a grey Ford Ranger and trailer being stolen. During the arrest, a police officer was struck by the Ford Ranger.
He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police arrested the female driver of the Subaru and the male driver of the Ford.
During the arrest, two police officers were assaulted and sustained minor injuries. They were taken to hospital.
Police had earlier caught sight of the Ford, driving in convoy with a stolen black Subaru Liberty, on the Surf Coast Highway a short time later.
Officers attempted to intercept the Ford on Peter Street, Grovedale before the Subaru drove directly at police.
A significant amount of allegedly stolen property was located in the Subaru.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing.
The alleged offenders are currently in police custody.
