Doncaster man faces court after ramming police cars

A 23-year-old Doncaster man today appeared in the Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court following a pursuit and alleged ramming of two police vehicles in Heidelberg Heights about 4.20 p.m. on Friday, April 20.

Banyule Crime Investigation Unit detectives today told the court that they – on Friday afternoon – attempted to intercept an allegedly stolen grey Mitsubishi Lancer sedan on Law Street.

The 23-year-old Doncaster man appeared today charged with aggravated intentional exposing of emergency worker to risk by driving; conduct endangering life; aggravated burglary; criminal damage by fire; handle stolen goods and resist police

The vehicle allegedly failed to stop and then rammed two unmarked police vehicles at the corner of Altona Street and Sackville Street, West Heidelberg.

A short pursuit was then initiated by police across West Heidelberg and terminated a few minutes later with the vehicle found burnt out at Westerfold Park, Templestowe later in the afternoon.
