A 40-year-old woman has had her car impounded after being allegedly caught more than five times over the legal limit in Wallan last night.

A 40-year-old woman has had her car impounded after being allegedly caught more than five times over the legal limit in Wallan last night.

Wallan police were patrolling as part of Operation Target when they detected a Toyota Landcruiser driving erratically with its headlights off on Queen Street at about 11:55pm.

Police intercepted the vehicle on Queen Street, Wallan and spoke to the driver who has a zero-alcohol condition.

She underwent a preliminary breath test before accompanying officers to Wallan for an evidentiary test where she returned an alleged reading of 0.274 per cent BAC.

The Toyota was impounded for 30 days for $1675.00.

She was served with an immediate 12-month licence ban and released pending a summons to appear in court.
