Kilmore East man charged after crash

Seymour Highway Patrol officers yesterday charged a 29-year-old Kilmore East man after a woman was left with life-threatening injuries after a crash in Kilmore last Wednesday,  January 22.

Seymour Highway Patrol officers yesterday charged a 29-year-old Kilmore East man after a woman was left with life-threatening injuries after a crash in Kilmore last Wednesday,  January 22.

Police will allege the driver of a Mitsubishi SUV was travelling on Kilmore East Road when they left the roadway and crashed into a tree at about 8pm.

The driver, a 29-year-old Kilmore East man then fled the scene.

The passenger, a 38-year-old Kilmore woman, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. She remains in a stable condition.

The Kilmore East man was located and arrested by police after he self-presented at hospital where he remains under police guard.

He has since been charged with several offences, including driving in a manner dangerous, careless driving and failure to render assistance.

The Kimpre East was not licensed to drive a motor vehicle and was remanded in custody to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on April 30.
