The women of Kinglake gathered in their finery for the 11th annual Kinglake Oaks Day function at the Kinglake Hotel with $1040 being raised for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre’s research into breast and ovarian cancer.
Local DJ Ian Haysom was MC with recently elected Murrindindi councillor Leigh Dunscombe running the sweeps and Roger ‘Magic’ Watson entertaining the ladies with magic tricks and card skills.
Fashions on the Field winners were Jane Sutton for Best Shoes and Linda Hamer for Best Fascinator/Hat. Rebecca Webber won Best Colour Scheme and Leanne Graham took out overall Best Outfit.
“A great day that everyone enjoyed and now in its 11th year,” said Leigh Dunscombe. “It was the biggest crowd in 11 years,” said Ian Haysom.
After winning Best Hat, Linda Hamer also won the ‘Guess how many bras in the Barrel’ competition, guessing correctly at 133.
“[It was] my first year here and [I] had an absolute ball, ” Vicki Lacey said.
