Fatal house fire in Goldsborough

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following a fatal house fire in Goldsborough yesterday.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following a fatal house fire in Goldsborough yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at a home in Goldsborough Road on Friday, June 13 about 9am.

The alarm was raised after a neighbour noticed smoke billowing from the property.

Sadly, the body of a man was found when the fire was extinguished.

The body is yet to be formally identified. Investigators believe the deceased is the resident of the home, a 79-year-old man.

An arson chemist attended the scene. The investigation surrounding the circumstances remains ongoing.

At this early stage, the fire appears to be non-suspicious.
