THOMASTOWN, VIC. — Mill Park Divisional Response Unit detectives are investigating an attempted aggravated home invasion in Thomastown this morning.

Detectives have been told up to five male teens armed with machetes have attempted to gain entry to The Boulevard, Thomastown residence about 5.45am, according to Mill Park Detective, Acting Senior Sergeant, Steven Smith.

A 42-year-old man home at the time, managed to fend off the offenders who were demanding his car keys.

“This incident would have been extremely frightening and confronting for this family and their neighbours,” Snr Sgt Smith said.

The offenders fled empty-handed when they were spooked by the victim’s neighbour.

“Our officers quickly responded to this incident to speak to the victims, set up a crime scene and conduct extensive patrols of the area to search for the offenders,” Snr Sgt Smith said.

None of the occupants, including a 38-year-old woman and three children also home at the time, sustained any physical injuries.

“We urge any residents that have not yet been approached by police to review their CCTV cameras and come forward if they think they have information that can assist the investigation,” Snr Sgt Smith said.
