Illicit Firearms Squad detectives charged a 43-year-old Hoppers Crossing man after firearms, ammunition, parts and plans were uncovered during a search warrant in Hoppers Crossing yesterday.
Detectives raided a residence in O’Neill Avenue, Hoppers Crossing as part of an investigation into the manufacturing of illicit firearms.
Police seized two imitation firearms, an inoperable homemade firearm, a quantity of ammunition, various homemade firearm parts as well as schematics and plans for privately made firearms.
The 43-year-old Hoppers Crossing man was arrested at the scene.
He has been charged with manufacturing firearms without a licence, possessing parts to manufacture firearms, possessing cartridge ammunition, [being a] prohibited person possessing firearms and two counts of a prohibited person possessing an imitation firearm.
He was bailed to face Werribee Magistrates’ Court on April 29, 2025.
