PORT MELBOURNE, VIC. — Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance to identify a woman as part of an investigation into an incident in Port Melbourne last month.

Police have been told a 62-year-old woman was handing out flyers with a group of volunteers outside a supermarket on Bay Street when she was approached by an unknown woman, who appeared substance-affected, on Saturday, October 17, at about 11.20am.

The unknown woman left a few minutes later without speaking to the group.

A short time later, witnesses described an incident in which a vehicle mounted a gutter, close to those handing out flyers, before it swerved toward nearby traffic lights and left the scene.

Those involved were shaken after the incident, and no one was physically injured.

Detectives have spoken to several witnesses and, after not identifying any relevant CCTV, are today appealing for any other witnesses or motorists with information to come forward – to assist in establishing what occurred.
