Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision in Lilydale on Thursday evening.
It is understood that two vehicles collided on Hull Road about 6pm.
The yet-to-be formally identified driver of the first vehicle died at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. His passenger was uninjured.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
