WERRIBEE, VIC. — Police are investigating a fatal house fire in Werribee this morning.

WERRIBEE, VIC. — Police are investigating a fatal house fire in Werribee this morning.

Emergency services responded to reports of the fire at a Newbury Street residence just after midnight.

Crews extinguished the blaze, which had fully engulfed the home, before locating a three-year-old child deceased inside.

Relatives told ABC News that another child, aged 11, escaped the fire by jumping out of a window.

The injured man is understood to be the father of the two children.

FRV said peer support and counselling have been made available to first responders.

A male resident was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

An arson chemist will attend the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the fire are being investigated; however, at this stage, it is not being treated as suspicious.
