MOONEE PONDS, VIC. — Police are investigating a suspicious fire after firefighters were called to reports of a fire at the Beauty and Skin hair and nail salon on Shuter Street, Moonee Ponds, at 12.51am.
It is believed unknown offenders threw jerry cans into the closed business before setting it alight.
They fled in a light coloured vehicle north towards Puckle Street.
A crime scene has been established. The fire is not believed to be linked to an earlier house fire in Essendon.
A suspected illicit tobacco shop is located three doors down. It is not known if this is linked to the attempted firebombing.
An investigation is ongoing.
