ASCOT VALE, VIC. — Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to an incident in Savige Street, Ascot Vale at 9.54am yesterday after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a building fire.

Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find a ground-floor brick apartment in a three-story complex fully involved in fire.

The response was escalated with FRV crews wearing breathing apparatus, establishing hose lines and attacking the blaze. Firefighters prevented any fire from spreading to adjoining apartments.

The blaze was contained to the apartment of origin, with the second floor of the building heavily smoke-logged.

Firefighters searched the property, but no one was inside, while two people had evacuated the building before the arrival of FRV.

No injuries were reported.

This incident was deemed under control at 10.17am.

A total of eight appliances and 27 firefighters were committed to the firefighting effort.

Power and gas companies also attended to assist FRV operations.
