Detectives are investigating a carjacking in Hawthorn last Saturday night, January 25.

Investigators have been told a 38-year-old Templestowe man was parked in his vehicle, a special edition Holden Commodore, on Elgin Street near Barkers Road in Hawthorn just after 11pm.

He was about to drive off when a blue Subaru WRX pulled up next to him with an unknown male and female inside.

The male parked in front of the victim’s vehicle, yelling at the driver, inferring the vehicle was stolen and it belonged to a friend of his.

The victim denied this accusation and the male offender reached in and grabbed the keys.

The victim got out of his car and tried to get the keys back. The female passenger from the Subaru prevented him.

The male jumped into the Commodore and took off at speed on Elgin Street whilst the female drove away in the Subaru they arrived in.

The victim was not physically injured.

The stolen vehicle, a 40th-anniversary edition red Holden Commodore (pictured above) with registration 40YRS, is yet to be located.
