Loaded firearm and drugs located in Clayton

CLAYTON, VIC. — Monash Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) detectives yesterday charged a man after a commercial quantity of drugs and a loaded firearm were located in Clayton on June 13, 2026.

CLAYTON, VIC. — Monash Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) detectives yesterday charged a man after a commercial quantity of drugs and a loaded firearm were located in Clayton on June 13, 2026.

Police were initially called to conduct a welfare check at the intersection of Wellington Road and Henderson Road about 5.30am.

Officers attended the scene and boxed in the BMW sedan as a precaution.

Upon closer inspection, officers located a 29-year-old man asleep inside the rented vehicle, which was idling at the traffic lights.

The man was woken up before a search of the car allegedly revealed a commercial quantity of MDMA, as well as a loaded handgun.

The man from Vermont was taken to hospital as a precaution before being interviewed by detectives. He has since been charged with:

  • Trafficking a commercial quantity of ecstasy;
  • (Being a) A prohibited person possesses a firearm;
  • A person subject to a Firearm Prohibition Order who possesses a firearm;
  • Possessing a general category unregistered handgun;
  • Possessing cartridge ammunition without a licence and
  • Possessing a drug of dependence.

He faced a bail and remand court yesterday.

The outcome of the court hearing is unknown.
