CARLTON, VIC. — A 31-year-old man has been arrested over the death of 21-year-old Jayda Allen Bonner at a Carlton apartment block on Saturday, October 10.

The Carlton man handed himself in at a police station and is expected to be interviewed by Homicide Squad detectives today.

Ms Bonner was a Yagera woman with family in Queensland.

She was described by her aunt, Kellie Carter-Bell, as a “gentle soul” with a “heart of gold.”

Ms Carter-Bell said the family had been so concerned about Ms Bonner’s welfare that they had recently sought help from police.

“We begged for their help, and because we were ringing them and not Jayda, their attitude was, ‘Well, what do you want us to do?'”
