JOLIMONT (MCG), VIC. — The Melbourne Divisional Response Unit have charged a 34-year-old man with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of throwing a missile after a plate of food was thrown at a woman and child at an AFL preliminary final in September.

The charges follow a report to police that at the conclusion of the game on Saturday, September 19, a plate of food was allegedly thrown at a 47-year-old woman and 8-year-old child.

The pair weren’t physically injured. The incident was reported to police the following day.

The Seaford man has been charged on summons to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on March 18, 2027.
