WOLLERT, VIC. — Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man after emergency services were called to a Gypsum Drive, Wollert property just before 5.30pm yesterday.

The yet-to-be formally identified man’s death is being treated as suspicious. A crime scene has been established.

Homicide Squad detectives remain on scene.

At this stage, police are investigating if the incident was targeted.

No arrests have been made.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing.

Melbourne underworld figure Athan Boursinos was ambushed and murdered in a laneway behind his Champions Parade home in Wollert in mid 2025.

Police suspect that the killing was the work of a NSW organised crime syndicate and that at least two Victorian men helped the offenders with transport and accommodation.

The 21-year-old, who was leaving for a court appearance in Heidelberg over drugs, weapons, theft and driving charges, was shot multiple times and died at the scene.

Mr Boursinos was believed to have been an associate of exiled crime boss Kazem “Kaz” Hamad.
