FOOTSCRAY, VIC. — Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) is investigating the circumstances surrounding a ram raid at a hot pot store in Footscray about 2.50am this morning.
Emergency services were called following reports a vehicle had crashed into the Leeds Street store.
Police stated that it appeared the offenders tried to set the shop alight; however, it failed to take hold and only caused smoke damage.
The offenders fled the scene, dumping the stolen 2009 black Toyota Prado in the middle of the road.
Detectives will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and whether it is linked to any other recent fires.
