RESERVOIR, VIC. — This morning, tradesmen working for East Upward Building Supplies were busted by this masthead using angle grinders with sparks flying through the air as the tradesmen cut up concrete reinforcement steel.

The actions of these tradesmen were reckless, inconsiderate and illegal when a Total Fire Ban has been declared as they grinded away -illegally – on Kerang Avenue, Reservoir, this morning.

Whilst the Boral Company attended with concrete for ‘the pour,’ Boral and its employees and contractors are not responsible for, nor have any say in, what is happening on a building site. They just turn up with the concrete mixer to the site to pour concrete. As such, Boral is not responsible for the reckless and illegal behaviour of tradesmen from East Upward Building Supplies.

“As a business that takes a zero-harm approach to safety, we do not endorse or condone, nor are (we) responsible for, the actions of non-Boral employees or contractors who contravene total fire ban laws.

“Our employee did not breach any law and completed the pour as part of the booked service with the customer. These actions are separate and contained from those undertaken by other non-Boral employees earlier at the site,” a Boral spokesperson said.

East Upward Building Supplies is a construction and building supplier that offers services for home extensions, renovations, new builds, and materials for decks, patios, and more, operating under East Upward Construction and Building Supplies or East Upward Building Supplies Pty Ltd.

Their ABN is 51 638 636 870.

The Chinese homeowner said to VicNews: “We don’t fucking care, we’ll do whatever the fuck we like and if you don’t fuck off … ” followed by other threats and rants, some of which appeared to be spoken in Mandarin. As such, given the illegal use of an angle grinder on a day of statewide Total Fire Ban, police were called.

Victoria Police was informed and attended the scene. It is not known at present if police issued charges or fines to the rogue, law-breaking tradesmen or their company.

East Upward Building Supplies did not respond to several requests for comment.
