A second man has been charged and remanded in custody following an aggravated burglary on former AFL coach and ABC Sport commentator Mick Malthouse.

Malthouse, 72, used an exercise bar to fend off the intruders of his East Melbourne home.

A 38-year-old Brunswick was yesterday charged with attempted aggravated home invasion, burglary and intentionally causing injury.

“Detectives from Taskforce Hawk also assisted with today’s charges, after information about the alleged offending was located during a separate, unrelated investigation into criminality linked to the construction industry,” a police spokesperson said

The alleged offender will remain in custody for separate matters and is expected to front the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 6.
