SOUTHBANK, VIC. — Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 32-year-old Southbank man in relation to several bin fires in Melbourne’s CBD in July and August.

SOUTHBANK, VIC. — Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 32-year-old Southbank man in relation to several bin fires in Melbourne’s CBD in July and August.

Police will allege up to ten bins were deliberately lit on fire by the man in Southbank from Thursday, July 2 to Tuesday, August 11.

No properties were damaged in the blazes, and there were no injuries.

The 32-year-old Southbank man has been charged with ten counts of criminal damage by fire and attempting to commit criminal damage by fire.

He was bailed yesterday to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on February 3, 2027.
