Police have arrested two people after stop sticks were used on an allegedly stolen vehicle in Melbourne’s north overnight.

The red Ford Focus was allegedly stolen in an armed robbery in Collingwood on Saturday, July 20.

Patrolling local police later sighted the car on High Street, Northcote at about 12.40am this morning.

The Air Wing was called and followed the vehicle as it was driven through several suburbs.

One of the car’s tyres was deflated after it ran into a gutter while attempting to avoid stop sticks and ultimately detached from the vehicle.

The vehicle then came to a stop near the intersection of Craigieburn and Koukoura Road, Wollert.

A 42-year-old Mildura woman and a 14-year-old girl from the Whittlesea area were arrested at the scene.

Investigations remain ongoing.
