Teen charged following Highpoint Shopping Centre stabbing

WYNDHAM, VIC. — Alliance Taskforce detectives have charged a teenager following a stabbing at Highpoint Shopping Centre in Maribyrnong earlier this week.

A 16-year-old boy from the Wyndham area was arrested this morning.

He has been charged with affray and recklessly causing injury and faced Children’s Court today.

The charges follow an alleged incident where a group of teens were fighting outside a cinema in a shopping centre on Rosamond Road just after 7pm on Wednesday, May 27.

A 16-year-old boy from the Hume area was allegedly stabbed and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two teenagers sustained minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

The offenders fled on foot before police arrived.

A knife was located at the scene and seized by police.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
