CREMORNE, VIC. — Three men have been charged following a suspicious fire at a Cremorne gym last month.

Detectives from the Yarra Crime Investigation Unit yesterday executed three search warrants across Melbourne’s western suburbs and arrested three men.

A firearm and a quantity of methylamphetamine were also seized from a property in Hoppers Crossing.

A 19-year-old Hoppers Crossing man was charged with criminal damage by fire, burglary, possessing drugs of dependence and possessing a handgun.

Two 20-year-old men, from Hoppers Crossing and Truganina, were charged with criminal damage by fire and burglary.

All three presented before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court Friday afternoon.

The charges follow a fire at a gym on Church Street, Cremorne at about 1am on Wednesday, July 22.

It will be alleged the men forced entry to the unoccupied premises and set fire to it before fleeing in a vehicle.

No one was injured during the incident.
