SYDNEY, NSW. — The Australian government, police and corporate media are covering up the disturbing fact that Israeli soldiers are slowly returning from the genocide of Palestine and filled with unhinged psychopathic genocidal rage are now targeting ordinary Aussies as unwitting victims of their hateful violence; with the upcoming court case in Sydney of recently returned ‘tall, bald IDF soldier’ Russell John Campbell serving as one chilling example.
53-year-old IDF soldier, Russell John Campbell — who only returned to Australia from assisting Israel with its genocide of Palestine in January 2025 — will face Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday, April 22, after being charged with common assault and intimidation over an unprovoked violent assault of a pro-Palestine advocate in western Sydney late last month, the vision of which went viral around the world.
Campbell, however, has somehow escaped any charges related to the newly installed hate and extremism laws, despite his anti-Palestinian stance and intent being clear during the videotaped assault in Merrylands on Saturday, March 28 and his own public posting of genocidal and violent hatred about Palestinians just a year before the incident, where he openly stated about how he wanted “every single” Palestinian in Gaza to “burn in hell”.
Meanwhile, Campbell was quietly arrested at his Merrylands home on Monday, March 30, with little fanfare and no media coverage, and no subsequent press release on the NSW Police’s website. A direct juxtaposition to how NSW Police have gone about busting doors at 5am and dragging people out of their apartments, with vision for the corporate media at the ready when it came to tackling the great menace of protestors who attended the February 9 demonstration against Israel’s war criminal president, Isaac Herzog and were brutally assaulted by jacked-up police for their troubles.
A court this week has found the anti-protest laws NSW Premier Chris Minns rushed through to please Israel and were used by NSW Police as the basis for their heavy-handed ways, were unconstitutional.
The developments are now leading many to worry that a system of ‘two-tier policing’ is beginning to take shape, where Zionist interests are favoured over general community safety. In the more than two weeks since his arrest, not one corporate media outlet or mainstream news organisation has covered the arrest of Campbell.
The troubling incident involving Campbell is also an example of what many experts and sensible, sane, well-grounded people have now long suggested and feared: that one or some of the 1,000 or so Australians who have signed up with Israel’s so-called ‘defence forces’ to take part in its genocide of Palestine will return to this nation and bring with them unhinged genocidal rage and psychopathic violence.

Government and Police Claim ‘No Hate To See’
Authorities including the federal government’s Home Affairs Department as well as the NSW Premier Chris Minns, NSW Attorney-General Michael Daley and NSW Police Minister Yasmin Catley have all refused to comment on the case or deny claims that ‘two tier policing’ is occurring when contacted by True News Weekly, or even outline what they are doing to protect ordinary Australians from the violent extremism of returning Israeli ‘soldiers’.
NSW Police, meanwhile, claimed with a straight face that Campbell’s actions “did not meet the threshold” to charge him with any hate crimes. True News Weekly then provided evidence to NSW Police where Campbell publicly stated his genocidal hatred for Palestinians on at least three occasions.
Coincidentally, Campbell deleted the three offending social media posts just a few hours after True News Weekly had alerted only the police to their existence. NSW Police would not comment on queries if they were concerned a ‘corrupt police insider’ was feeding information to alleged criminals and violent extremists about to soon face court.
The surprising lack of hate crime charges for Campbell as well as local media attention, came in a period where senior NSW police and the corporate media spent days bellyaching about how the words “Fuck Zionism” graffitied on a tourist attraction, the Big Banana could possibly constitute a ‘hate crime’.
It comes during a period where almost 20 police officers raced to Bondi Beach to surround a man wearing a “Fuck Zionism” t-shirt to intimidate him, so that it may be ‘causing offence’.
It comes soon after a White Supremacist was thrown into prison for 12 months for a less-than-one-minute speech where he blamed the Jewish Lobby for the world’s problems.
But Campbell has escaped any hate crime charges, despite posting on three separate occasions in February 2025 soon after his return to Australia, about his clear genocidal hatred for Palestinians, all of whom he wished to “burn in hell”, as well as being involved in another unsavoury incident in Merrylands six months before the viral assault took place.
In this October 2025 incident, Campbell allegedly harassed a woman inside a shopping mall over her stance on Palestine. This incident was also captured on mobile phone footage, with Campbell given a banning order from the mall at the time, but not criminally charged.
The seemingly deliberate ‘undercharging’ of Campbell by police bears an uncanny resemblance to what happened with Sydney’s Zionist bomber David Wise, who wasn’t charged with terrorism despite building and placing a bomb on a man’s ute as it was flying the Palestinian flag in 2024.
Who is Russell John Campbell, And How Did He Join The IDF?
Little is known about 53-year-old Russell John Campbell, apart from his own postings on his YouTube and Facebook pages, where he refers to himself as a “content creator” and the “Grand Roo”.
An online ABN search does find a single ‘Russell John Campbell’ with a business registered as a plumber since April 2000, with its main place of business, however, not being Sydney but registered to the Brisbane suburb of Keperra. True News Weekly has not been able to confirm whether it is the same Russell John Campbell, as there is no listed contact number or email address for the registered business.
However, the Facebook page registered to Campbell highlights his travels to Europe in 2024 and then to Israel; before his subsequent tour of duty with the IDF, which only ended in January 2025 when he returned to Australia.
Widely derided by many as ‘Mossad Minns’ for his subservience to Israel, Campbell’s Facebook page however, reveals him to be a big fan of NSW Premier Chris Minns, claiming the embattled premier is the “only Labor politician in the country with a functioning brain”.
Importantly, True News Weekly does not believe Campbell is Jewish, but instead is motivated by a Christian Zionist ‘crusader’ ideology. Playlists and videos on Campbell’s YouTube page seem to suggest this is the case.
A check of his social media posts shows that Campbell joined the IDF through Sar-El: a so-called “non-profit service organization, subordinate to and under the direction of the Israeli Logistics Corps” who offer individuals the opportunity to “become an Australasian volunteer to assist the IDF … on base”.
Campbell’s case suggests serious questions must now be raised about whether Sar-El is actually a Zionist hate organisation involved in the grooming and radicalisation of extremists. Police and authorities would not comment on what steps they are taking to protect the wider community from the violence of returning Israeli soldiers when asked by True News Weekly.
Palestinian Community Hits Back At Double Standards
Following the troubling developments involving Campbell exposed by True News Weekly this week, leading Palestinian advocates have chosen to speak out.
Australia Palestine Advocacy Network president, Nasser Mashni, said he welcomes the arrest of Campbell — “an alleged serial provocateur” — but has questioned the double standards the case raises.
“The footage APAN has seen is demonstrative of the soaring anti-Palestinian racism our community has experienced since the genocide began,” Mashni told True News Weekly.
“The normalisation of rhetoric that singles out Palestinian voices and experiences, and lays responsibility singularly at those that protest genocide and our government’s complicity in it, has created an environment in which intimidation, harassment and violence has been occurring on a daily basis,” Mashni said.
Mashni then explained to True News Weekly how Campbell’s actions had to be seen in their proper context.
“This climate has not emerged in a vacuum, it has been shaped by the political choices and public discourse of our leaders, elevating the feelings of one community whilst dismissing the suffering of another; most recently exemplified by the invitation of the war monger Israeli president Isaac Herzog, complemented by far-right actors like Pauline Hanson, our alternative prime minister and a mainstream press that refuses to see Palestinian lives as worthy of empathy.”
One can only wonder whether corporate media and others will finally take an interest in Campbell’s case when he faces court for the first time next week, on Wednesday, April 22, at Parramatta Local Court. At the very least, it can be guaranteed True News Weekly will be there.
