Months ago, before US President Donald Trump began his plan to ‘Make America Great Again’ – as we’ve seen this week as the stock market tanks thanks to Trump’s tariffs – many Liberal politicians, including Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, were all aboard the MAGA train. Until this week.
So, let’s go through some of the Liberal Party politicians – and their backers – past statements, comments and their history who all backed Trump is a ‘genius’ who was ‘stable.’
Micheala Cash, answering a question on Nine’s Today show, said that “Trump was showing that he’s a man of action.”
“The American people, they expect action. And that is what they’re getting. And they’ll get the exact same attitude under a Peter Dutton government,” Cash said.
Potential future Prime Minister and current Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has said Donald Trump is a “big thinker and a deal maker” with a “genuine desire to see peace and stability” in the Middle East.
The Opposition Leader’s good friend, Gina Rinehart, whose birthday party in WA Dutton attended, says of Trump that “… the nation [Australia] should ‘watch and learn” from the policy agenda of US President-elect Donald Trump.”
Gina Rinehart says she is hoping that Australians will be “inspired by Donald Trump”, warning that there is a risk Australia will be left behind if it does not adequately respond to Trump’s MAGA agenda.
“If we are sensible, we should set up a DOGE immediately, reduce government waste, government tape and regulations,” she said.
Dutton soon after, in a cabinet reshuffle, appointed Jacinta Nampijinpa Price to a “Musk-style government efficiency role in [the] new frontbench.”
” … Jacinta will be looking closely at how we can achieve a more efficient use of taxpayers’ money,” Dutton said.

“Why have we got a department of thousands and thousands of people in Canberra called the Education Department if we don’t have a school and don’t employ a teacher?” Dutton asked.
The US Trumpettes say this: “She’s an incredible woman … She does so much good. I’m so impressed with her through the years. To me, she’s sort of like a female Donald Trump,” Holt Kramer said of Australia’s richest person.” Rinehart is a major supporter of Peter Dutton.
Dutton also has, many times, tried to conflate those protesting against the genocide in Palestine as ‘terrorists,’ which is straight from the Trump playbook. A civilian protesting is not a terrorist, as Dutton likes to claim.
An Australian who – for example – tonight firebombs a Tesla showroom in Mulgrave is not a ‘terrorist’ at all. They are an alleged arsonist and committed an alleged criminal offence, which the court will decide the merits of. Such does not make them ‘terrorists’ as Dutton has tried to claim before. They’re just people who allegedly broke the law.
Seems that Dutton and his team are rapidly trying to distance themselves from MAGA and Trump – that they fully supported and endlessly praised only weeks ago – about as fast as their working-from-home backflip with double half-pike on Monday, backing out faster than an Italian tank in World War II.
There are so many examples that I could go on forever of the Federal Liberal Party backing, supporting, and often worshipping Trump.
Now that it’s election time, the Liberal Party is backtracking their “we love MAGA” as fast as they can, but have they already shown their true colours to the voting public?
Is it too late for the Liberal Party to get off the MAGA train now, or has it already left the station?
Will the Liberal Party jump right on board the next MAGA train if elected?
