SPRING ST, MELBOURNE. — Building on the Federal Government’s existing $1 billion investment, the State Government has announced that it will invest a further $550 million to improve safety on the Western Freeway.
Premier Ben Carroll said the project will deliver approximately 30 kilometres of new lanes along the freeway and upgrade key interchanges.
The upgrade will widen the freeway to three lanes in each direction between Ferris Rd and Hopkins Rd and widen the freeway to four lanes in each direction between Hopkins Rd and Ballarat Rd.
Key interchanges at Ferris Rd, Leakes Rd and Hopkins Rd will be improved.
At Hopkins Rd, drivers will benefit from additional lanes across the bridge to Neale Rd, and improved citybound connections from Neale Rd.
