John Telek, VK1JT, located in Ainslie, Canberra, continues dialling into various digital amateur ‘ham’ radio networks, causing intentional interference to cross-linked radio communications whereby certain procedures must be adhered to.

Despite continued and ongoing requests from several amateur radio operators – who build and maintain these networks across Australia – Telek allegedly continues this behaviour, including operating on frequencies not authorised for the amateur radio service.

It is known that Telek operates AllStar node 66252, and amateur radio operators are continually instructing Telek to operate properly, and ‘follow the rules’ often to no avail, whilst Telek continually fails to meet the Australian and International radio communications law, and the Amateur Radio Operator’s Code of Conduct.

Whilst claiming to be diagnosed with several mental illnesses, it is alleged by several verified sources that Telek continues to be taking methamphetamine for his ‘self-diagnosis.’

He [Telek] may have said other bullshit on other occasions, though, but that’s what I distinctly heard him say [what he announced to TG505] along with mentioning the quantities as “just a fraction of a point,” a verified source told VicNews.

“Human beings cause schizophrenia in other human beings simply by not being nice to them over a period of time and not showing them any empathy, compassion, love or understanding, otherwise known as TRAUMA. Ignorance, arrogance, intolerance and apathy have taken over the world or figuratively speaking. The devil runs the place,” according to Telek’s QRZ profile.

Telek’s claims of ‘mental illness’ appear to be frivolous and ‘self-diagnosed’ according to Telek’s own social media posts, sighted by VicNews.

“Telek has also published a pirated AMBe2 vocoder inside a fork of a GPL3 licensed project (so, not only has he broken the patent and copyright law, he’s also violated the GPL by including closed source software in a derivative work),” a verified source (who did not wish to be named) told VicNews.

It is proposed by amateur radio operators that Telek’s Amateur Radio Licence (VK1JT) and Amateur Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency should be either suspended or revoked, and up to a court of law to rule on the matter, for ‘bringing the amateur radio service into disrepute’ and ‘causing harmful interference with [ongoing] intention.’

Telek allegedly continues to break Australian and International radio communications law, resulting in harmful interference to Australian and international amateur radio communications networks.

It is understood, but not confirmed, that Telek may also be causing interference to other – non-amateur radio – communications networks.

The Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA) has been contacted for comment.
Mr Telek did not respond to several requests for comment, including via amateur radio.

  1. Unprofessional, vitriolic and trashy reporting that denigrates a person who is simply enjoying a hobby. Reporter obviously has no technical or engineering competence, has been provided with biased and technically incorrect information.
The radio ID of interfering station on DMR and other amateur digital radio networks may simply be blocked by the sysops until whatever problem it is causing is resolved. No need for other measures. As for the person who asked how can John have an advanced licence? Obviously by sitting for and passing the AOCP exam like everyone else does. 73 VK2TLQ.

    • Totally agree, the amusing thing is, the author of the article and owner of this site is a licensed radio amatuer. Sadly, the hobby is full of self entitled knobs who think they hold power over others. Just another one in the same bracket as the guys that run Echolink and Ham Radio Deluxe.

  2. Ive heard from multiple sources that VK3XEM Simon Templar was gloating over this article?

Considering this individual promotes a welfare network, they need to take a long hard look at themself.

    • Wow, you’re a big fan of yourself. Your tricks don’t work VK1JT. Might help if you didn;t use the name John T and the IP address tracked to the ACT, where you live. Kepp it up Telek, you are being monitored and recorded 24/7 until we have pages and pages of your on-air bhaviour to both publish and then seek comment from the ACMA and Federal Police.

Every breach you make is recorded and documented and you, by your own actions, just keep adding new entries.

      Kepp up the ‘good’ work.

  3. I speak to John very regularly and never have an issue with him. He is a passionate radio amateur who unfortunately falls victim to over privileged typical old school hams who have nothing better to do.

Yeah sure, he gets frustrated like we all do but Ive never found him offensive.

Maybe the so called “hams” should be supporting him instead of finding a target they can pick on to fill the void in their own lives.

He has probably forgotten more about this hobby than some of his critics have ever learnt.

I will also add he doesn’t break any international laws at all and those moaning that he replaces the phonetic alphabet with his own words need to get a humour transplant.

  4. DVB-T broadcasts on 420Mhz (an entire 7Mhz of spectrum well outside the 70cm allocation), his hotspot operating in the satellite portion of the band plan, his use of offensive language along with him replacing ICAO/ITU/NATO with random and often offensive words makes this guy an absolutely terrible steward for amateur radio. How does someone with so little respect for the hobby get an Advanced ticket?
