BUNDOORA, VIC. (NFNL HQ). — With the finals race heating up, Round 15 shapes as another important weekend of Northern Football Netball League Division 1 action.
With only the top five sides qualifying for September action, every result carries extra weight as teams battle for their position and look to build momentum heading into the final rounds.
Heidelberg vs Bundoora
A huge clash awaits as two finals contenders go head-to-head, with Heidelberg looking to continue its dominant season against a dangerous Bundoora outfit.
The Tigers have been one of the competition’s standout sides throughout the year, combining strong midfield performances with a potent attacking setup. Heidelberg’s midfield group has been a major strength, with its ball-winners not only able to control possession and create opportunities for teammates, but also have a significant impact on the scoreboard themselves.
Luke Bunker has continued to provide plenty of drive through the middle, coming off another impressive performance with 32 disposals against Greensborough. Dylan Clarke has also been influential both as a ball-winner and scoreboard contributor, finishing Round 14 with 28 disposals and two goals, while Nathan Honey remains a dangerous target inside forward 50 after another strong outing with four goals.
Bundoora enters the contest with plenty of confidence following a strong win over Eltham, with its forward combination of Jesse King and Liam Mallia proving a dangerous threat inside 50. King has shown his ability to impact the scoreboard, highlighted by his seven-goal performance in Round 14, while Mallia’s forward pressure and ability to create scoring opportunities will be important against Heidelberg’s defence.
Peter McEvoy has also been a standout contributor for the Bulls, providing a strong presence in the ruck and giving Bundoora first use around stoppages. His ability to compete in the air and influence contests around the ground will be a key matchup against Heidelberg’s midfield group.

Diamond Creek vs West Preston-Lakeside
Diamond Creek will look to continue its strong run of form when it hosts West Preston-Lakeside.
The Demons have been among the competition’s most consistent performers and produced another dominant display last round, with Jacob Booth starring through the midfield and forward line with 30 disposals and three goals. Nathan Searl has also been a reliable contributor, using his marking ability and work rate to provide an important outlet across the ground.
West Preston-Lakeside will be aiming to respond after a difficult outing against Montmorency but has shown throughout the season it can challenge sides when at its best. Aleksandr D’Arro remains a key figure for the Roosters, coming off a huge individual performance with 37 disposals and 17 clearances.
Diamond Creek will enter as favourites, but West Preston-Lakeside will be looking to produce a competitive performance against one of the competition’s leading teams.
Hurstbridge vs North Heidelberg
Hurstbridge will be fighting to keep its finals hopes alive when it takes on North Heidelberg in a crucial contest.
The Bridges were left disappointed after a narrow loss to Banyule last round, surrendering a lead before falling by 10 points in a fourth-quarter comeback. They will be looking to bounce back, with Blake Fitzgerald continuing his strong form through the midfield with 28 disposals and 10 clearances, while Lachlan East has provided a strong presence around the ground.
North Heidelberg will be looking for improvement following a tough defeat against Diamond Creek. Jamison Shea was outstanding despite the loss, collecting 40 disposals and 10 inside 50s, while Brody Bell also impressed with 30 disposals and a goal.
Both teams will see this as an important opportunity to finish the season strongly, with a four-quarter effort required to claim the points.
Greensborough vs Montmorency
A blockbuster contest awaits as Greensborough hosts Montmorency in a clash between two sides with strong finals ambitions.

Montmorency enters the match full of confidence following a dominant performance against West Preston-Lakeside, where it produced a huge 132-point victory. Nicolas Uzelac was outstanding with 36 disposals and 10 clearances, while Lachy Batchelor and Nash Holmes provided plenty of scoreboard impact, with Holmes booting six goals.
This clash shapes as a genuine test for both sides, with midfield control likely to play a major role in determining the result.
Eltham vs Banyule
A must-win clash awaits Eltham and Banyule as both sides look to keep their finals hopes alive.
Eltham will be aiming to build on its competitive performances and put pressure on the teams above them, while Banyule knows there is little room for error with its season on the line. The Bears will need to continue their strong form after producing a thrilling fourth-quarter comeback against Hurstbridge last round.
Banyule’s midfield combination of Jack Langford and Jean-Luc Velissaris will be crucial, with both players coming off outstanding performances. Langford collected 35 disposals and 11 inside 50s, while Velissaris finished with 33 disposals and 12 clearances.
Eltham will need strong contributions across the ground from players such as Jason McCormick and Alexander Bellchambers, who were among their best against Bundoora last week.
