LEDCOURT, VIC. — Emergency services responded to a multi vehicle collision when two cars traveling along the Western Highway near Mount Drummond Road, Ledcourt collided around 6.45pm on September 27.
“The car has collided into the side of a truck and then collided with a third vehicle, being another car,” detective acting sergeant Leigh Miller from the Major Collision Unit said.
“Sadly two people in the third vehicle are both deceased.”
The victims are yet to be formally identified.
He said four people were in the other car, including a young girl who was critically injured.
The other three were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the truck was unhurt and stopped at the scene.
Roads around the area have reopened after remaining closed in both directions overnight while detectives investigated the cause of the crash.
“At this stage we don’t know why the collision has occurred but what we will be investigating is whether fatigue or distraction, whether speed is involved,” Det. Acting Sergeant Miller said.
