ALEXANDRA, VIC. — This afternoon, police arrested a male in Alexandra following a pursuit requiring stop sticks being deployed.
The driver continued to drive on flat tyres and then ran from police on foot. The police helicopter, PolAir – or AIR 495 – was deployed to help the Dog Squad track the offender, who was from Melbourne and wanted in relation to drug and stolen vehicle offences.
Police kept students at the nearby Alexandra Secondary College inside during lunchtime while the offender was being tracked and apprehended by the Dog Squad and local Police from Marysville.
The police helicopter was used to assist in apprehending the offender as AIR 495 circled over Alexandra for nearly an hour.
Students are now safe to return home at the normal time this afternoon.
