A school bus belonging to Islamic college IQRA in Adelaide has been targeted in a suspected terrorist attack.

The bus was parked on Matheson Rd, Reynella when it burst into flames just before midnight Sunday.

Bus driver Errol Koch raced outside and grabbed his garden hose to try to extinguish the flames. The bus was extensively damaged.

Crime scene investigators believe the fire was deliberately lit, with fears the attack may have been racially motivated as retaliation for the firebombing attack on a Melbourne Synagogue.

Koch managed to get the students to school this morning, however their exams were rescheduled.

“It’s very strange actually,” Mr Koch said to Seven News, Adelaide.

“I had the bus here for this weekend and this happened.

“It’s a very quiet area, something we don’t expect around here.”

The AFP, SA Police, Prime Minister Albanese, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton and ASIO did not respond to several requests for comment.
