18yo charged with murder following Lyndhurst stabbing

Homicide Squad detectives have charged an 18-year-old man from Narre Warren with murder following a fatal stabbing in Lyndhurst earlier this month.

Homicide Squad detectives have charged an 18-year-old man from Narre Warren with murder following a fatal stabbing in Lyndhurst earlier this month.

Investigators have been told a group of males were seen fighting in the vicinity of Society Avenue about 8:30pm on Friday, March 14.

Police arrived to find a male with serious injuries consistent with a stabbing whilst all other parties fled the scene.

Timothy Leek, a 24-year-old man from Clyde, was taken to hospital where he later died.

Southern Metro Crime Reduction Team officers arrested an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy in Doveton about 5:30pm on Friday, March 21.

They were interviewed by Homicide detectives and the 18-year-old was charged with murder and will face an out-of-sessions Melbourne Magistrates’ Court hearing today.

The 17-year-old boy was released pending further enquiries.

The investigation remains ongoing.
