Westgate Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating an attempted kidnapping in Tarneit earlier this week.
It is understood a 20-year-old woman was walking along Thames Boulevard, near the Werribee River, after exiting a bus near the intersection of Thames Boulevard and Melpomene Boulevard about 9:15pm on Wednesday, March 19.
The woman was approached by an unknown man, who attempted to drag her towards the road.
She managed to struggle and break free from the offender, who then fled south on Thames Boulevard towards the intersection of Melpomene Boulevard.
The woman was not physically injured.
He is described as being approximately 160-165cm tall, with a slim build and short dark hair and believed to be aged in his late teens to early twenties.
Investigators would like to speak to the driver of a dark-coloured 4WD that was in the area at the time who might have witnessed the incident.
