BURWOOD, VIC. — Box Hill police seized over $40,000 worth of illegal vapes and nicotine pouches in Burwood early on Wednesday morning.

Patrolling officers spotted a black Mercedes wagon driving erratically near the intersection of Station Street and Burwood Road about 4am.

Checks on the vehicle revealed the Mercedes had a suspended registration.

Police pulled over the vehicle and discovered the driver’s licence was disqualified.

The driver allegedly admitted to having a small amount of marijuana on him, which gave police the power to search the Mercedes under the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act.

Officers seized a large quantity of illegal vapes and nicotine pouches with an estimated street value of over $40,000.

A 24-year-old Carnegie man is expected to be charged on summons.

The Mercedes was impounded for a cost of $966.50.
