Victoria Police this afternoon discovered a body in the Norris Bank Parklands, which adjoin Darebin Creek near Greenhills Road, along the Darebin Creek Walking Trail.

Police officers, with assistance from the SES, were called in late this afternoon and could be seen from news helicopter images, wading waist-high in Darebin Creek whilst the body was recovered.

A police spokesperson said the cause of death was unknown at this stage.

It appears the body “has been in the water for some time,” a police spokesperson told Brett McLeod for Nine News.

The area remains cordoned off.

No further details have been released.
