MELTON SOUTH, VIC. — Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after thousands of dollars in tools were stolen from the Melton South CFA station early Tuesday morning.

Two thieves wearing face coverings attended the rear of the Exford Road building and used a jemmy bar to force entry at 4.47am.

Once inside, the offenders stole a large amount of Milwaukee tools, including drills, cutting and grinding equipment, plus two tripod lights, a thermal imaging camera and a defibrillator before fleeing, according to Melton Crime Investigation Unit Volume Crime Reduction Team Detective Acting Sergeant Sean Armstrong.

“The fact that these thieves have targeted an emergency services building is disgraceful,” he said.

The first has a slim build and was wearing a light-grey hooded Nike jacket and dark pants.

The second had a heavy-set build and was wearing a black hooded Nike jacket and dark pants.

“Summer has to be the busiest time of the year for the CFA so this is an extremely low act,” Det. Acting Insp. Armstrong said.
