Charges follow Lalor fatality

LALOR, VIC. — Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Lalor yesterday morning.

LALOR, VIC. — Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Lalor yesterday morning.

Emergency services were called to reports that a Mitsubishi Eclipse and a Ford Falcon sedan had collided at the intersection of Dalton Road and Burton Street just after 6am.

The driver and sole occupant of the Ford, a 22-year-old man, was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The female passenger of the Mitsubishi, a 49-year-old Lalor woman, died at the scene.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 52-year-old man, was not injured and was arrested at the scene.

He has since been charged with dangerous driving causing death and exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol.

The Lalor man was bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court next Thursday, June 25.
