ORMOND, VIC. — Cardinia Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) detectives have today laid further charges in relation to multi-million-dollar investment frauds.
Detectives executed a search warrant on North Road in Ormond about 10:30am and seized documents, mobile phones, computers and electronic devices.
The arrest relates to an alleged scam that occurred in the south-eastern suburbs between April and May 2026.
Detectives will allege that a man, claiming to be an established developer, convinced a victim to obtain finance for a commercial property development.
The man allegedly took money from the victim, with no building works ever proceeding.
Detectives will also allege the man claimed he was an established flooring contractor and convinced a victim to invest in a flooring business before taking the money.
A 53-year-old Ormond man has been charged with obtaining property by deception, theft, committing an indictable offence on bail and contravening a conduct condition of bail.
Police sought an application for his remand yesterday.
