Fatal fire at caravan park

CAMPBELLFIELD, VIC. — Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal fire at a caravan park in Campbellfield this morning.

CAMPBELLFIELD, VIC. — Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal fire at a caravan park in Campbellfield this morning.

Emergency services were called to reports of the blaze inside a cabin on Sydney Road just before 4.30am.

A yet-to-be-identified man was located deceased inside the premises.

No one else was inside the property at the time.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said a crime scene has been set up at the caravan park.

“Detectives will investigate the circumstances which at this stage are yet to be determined,” the spokesperson said.

Acting Commander Matt Nicholson from Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) said crews extinguished the fire quickly.

“On scene they were met with an intense fire. Crews brought the fire under control within approximately ten minutes,” he said.

At this stage, the circumstances of the fire are yet to be determined. Arson and Explosives Squad detectives are attending.

An investigation is ongoing.
