Firefighters responded to a unit fire in Frankston late this afternoon.
Police believe witnesses called triple-zero (000) with reports that a Franklin Court, Frankston, unit was engulfed in flames about 4pm.
During the evacuation of the property, a yet-to-be-identified person was found deceased inside.
No one else was injured during the blaze.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined.
