Firefighters bring Ashburton house fire under control

ASHBURTON, VIC. — Firefighters responded to an incident on Highgate Gr, Ashburton at 10:55am on Sunday, October 12, following a call to Triple Zero (000) reporting a house fire.

ASHBURTON, VIC. — Firefighters responded to an incident on Highgate Gr, Ashburton at 10:55am on Sunday, October 12, following a call to Triple Zero (000) reporting a house fire.

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) arrived on scene within six minutes to find a fire involving a two-storey brick veneer home.

The seat of the fire was located in the second-floor front bedroom, and fire damage extended to the first floor.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus worked quickly to extinguish the flames, bringing the incident under control at 11:07am.

Firefighters remained on scene to conduct an internal sweep for hot spots and ensure no further fire spread.

Four people evacuated the home safely.
