Firefighters tackle Thornbury house fire

THORNBURY, VIC. — Triple Zero Victoria (000) received multiple calls to a house fire in Dundas Street, Thornbury, this morning around 3.20am.

THORNBURY, VIC. — Triple Zero Victoria (000) received multiple calls to a house fire in Dundas Street, Thornbury, this morning around 3.20am.

FRV firefighters arrived on scene to find a weatherboard house fully engulfed in flames.

The response was upgraded to a second alarm.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus established hose lines and began attacking the blaze from the front of the premises in order to make entry.

All persons were accounted for. One patient was assessed by paramedics.

A Community Warning was issued for heavy smoke in the area.

The fire was deemed under control by 4.18am.

The response involved 26 firefighters, five pumpers, one aerial unit, one rescue unit and two other units.

The fire has not been deemed suspicious. FRV Fire Investigators will attend during daylight hours.

WorkSafe and a Municipal Building Surveyor were also requested to attend today.

Power and Gas companies were on scene to isolate services.

FRV Firefighters remained on scene for some time to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
