LOWER PLENTY, VIC. — Banyule-Nillumbik Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) detectives are investigating after a rideshare driver was seriously assaulted by two males in Lower Plenty last month.

Detectives have been told the victim accepted a rideshare job from a residential address in Warrandyte about 2.30pm on May 17.

Whilst transporting the four males in his vehicle, the offenders began smoking and using offensive language, so the victim cancelled their ride and dropped them on Main Road, Lower Plenty.

Shortly after exiting the vehicle, two males set upon the victim on Main Road, punching and kicking him repeatedly while he was in the middle of the road.

Passers-by intervened and came to the victim’s aid before the two offending males fled the scene.

The 39-year-old Doncaster man sustained a broken nose, facial swelling and bruising which required hospital admission.

The first male (main photo) is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged between 18 and 20 years old, with short brown hair.

He was wearing a grey hooded jumper and dark tracksuit pants.
