FRV tackles house blaze

ST ALBANS, VIC. — At 9.41pm on Saturday, July 25, firefighters responded to a building fire at Mark Street, St Albans.

ST ALBANS, VIC. — At 9.41pm on Saturday, July 25, firefighters responded to a building fire at Mark Street, St Albans.

Fire Rescue Victoria firefighters arrived to find a single-storey brick home well alight. The response was escalated to a second alarm.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the burning home and conducted an aggressive internal attack on the fire while also searching for any persons inside. It was confirmed no occupants were inside the premises.

The fire spread from a room within the home into the roof of the structure and caused significant damage. The incident was deemed Under Control at 10.27pm, 40 minutes after FRV arrived.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined. It will be investigated by FRV’s Fire Investigation Unit.

Firefighters remained on scene overnight.
