Grandfather second person to die after Wantirna South crash

A grandfather who was struck by a car while walking along a footpath in Wantirna South with his wife and grandson has died from his injuries.

A grandfather who was struck by a car while walking along a footpath in Wantirna South with his wife and grandson has died from his injuries. 

On Thursday, a car being driven by a 91-year-old woman lost control and hit the trio, who were walking along Coleman Road, Wantirna South, about 12:20pm.

A 59-year-old woman, the two-year-old boy’s grandmother, died at the scene.

A 60-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Victoria Police confirmed he died on Saturday, July 12.

The two-year-old boy received non-life-threatening injuries, while the 91-year-old female driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver is yet to be interviewed.
